Who Pays Medical Bills After a Car Accident in Alabama? – Judge Knows
Host: If you’ve been in a car wreck, call Greene & Phillips right now. Presented by Greene & Phillips Injury Lawyers — here’s attorney David Greene and the Judge, with Judge Knows.
After a car accident, one of the first questions people often wonder is, “How am I going to afford these medical bills?” From the ambulance ride, to the ER visit, to follow-up care — it can add up quickly. David’s here to help. Tell us more, David.
David Greene: All right.
Host: What should accident victims here in Alabama know?
David Greene: Well, number one, they need to make sure they seek medical treatment, and not be afraid to do so. A lot of times people are afraid they won’t get treatment, that they can’t pay for it. If you’re involved in a crash and you know it’s not your fault, go ahead and seek medical treatment — it’s very important to do that. That will work itself out. But you need to go ahead and seek medical treatment.
Before that, though, you want to go ahead and call 911, get the authorities out there. And then after that, sit down with a personal injury lawyer, like the lawyers here at Greene & Phillips. We can help guide you through the process. We have relationships with urgent care providers, as well as physical therapists and other physicians and services. Even if you don’t have health insurance, we can get you the coverage you need to get the treatment you need to make sure you get well — because number one, the most important thing is making sure you get well after your accident.
Host: That’s right. Okay, Judge — we know you know this one — who pays for these medical bills?
David Greene: Well, ultimately, they’re paid for by the other driver’s insurance company. We have nearly 30 years of experience putting these cases together, and really, the understanding we have of building a case and making the other driver’s insurance company pay is something we do every day. That’s how we proceed with cases.
Host: David, these bills often don’t wait until the case is over, though.
David Greene: They don’t. Providers want to be paid. If you go to the hospital, they’re going to want to be paid. If you go to a doctor, they’re going to want to be paid. All of the providers need to be paid. But there are certain things we can do to make sure they’re not chasing you for the bill. We can send letters of protection. We have arrangements with doctors that we can work out for your benefit. And there are ways — if you don’t have insurance — we’ve got relationships with companies that will actually help pay your bills, and then we work those out.
Host: All right, David Greene of Greene & Phillips Injury Lawyers — you understand it all. We’ve got to pop in and see you, and see Judge, because Judge knows.
