The Greene & Philips player of the week is St. Paul’s Episcopal senior Anthony “Tank” Jones.
The Greene & Phillips Player of the Week recognizes not only the top talent in high school sports, but also great teammates, hard workers, and most improved athletes along the Gulf Coast, Birmingham, and throughout Alabama.
The Oregon Duck commit led the Saints to a huge 27–23 Region 1 win over Gulf Shores Friday night at E.E. Delaney Stadium, improving their record to 5–1 overall and 3–1 in region play.
Jones scored the game-winning touchdown on a 3-yard run with just 31 seconds left, and earlier, he opened the scoring with a one-yard, one-handed touchdown grab.
On defense, Jones was just as dominant, recording 7 solo tackles, 4 assists, 3 sacks, and 2 quarterback pressures.
An all-around powerhouse performance from Jones this week.
