Semi-truck speeding down an Alabama Highway

$750,000 Semi Truck Accident Settlement

November 6, 2023/in Firm News, Settlements & Verdicts, Truck Accidens/by J. David Greene

Congratulations to Personal Injury Lawyer, Stephen Collins, for securing a $750,000 settlement for a victim of a trucking wreck. His client who was rear-ended by an 18 wheeler semi truck in northern Mobile County, resulting in severe medical issues and totaling his car.

Personal Injury Attorney

Stephen joined Greene & Phillips in 2011. He was invited to become partner in 2018, and for the past decade has served as Director of Legal Operations.

Along with semi truck cases, Stephen helps personal injury victims involved in a number of different issues including car wrecks, premises liability, workers comp, and social security disability.

Other Notable Settlements

Stephen has many notable settlements including three from this year alone:

  • $950,000 for a trucking accident
  • $650,000 for a car wreck
  • $500,000 for a child who experienced severe personal injury

Every Big Rig Wreck is Unique

Collisions involving commercial trucks are distinct from other types of vehicle accidents in multiple respects. Commercial trucks are subject to stringent federal regulations (administered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and state regulations (administered by state departments of transportations, like ALDOT).  These special regulations do not apply to personal vehicles. Federal and state regulations mandate:

  • Trucks carry increased insurance coverage
  • Enforce limitations on driving hours with required documentation
  • Necessitate rigorous maintenance of the vehicles.

However, due to narrow profit margins, some operators may circumvent these regulations, constituting negligence. Such disregard for the rules elevates the likelihood of perilous and fatal incidents on the highways.

Help After a Wreck with a Big Truck

If you or a loved one is involved in a trucking accident, it’s important to find a lawyer who has a proven track record with this type of case. If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Collins or any of the truck wreck lawyers of Greene & Phillips.
